Get Write Entertainment, is casting for "Underneath It All", a dynamic gospel stage play written, directed and produced by Kareem Jones and Tony Williams. Our last performance was July, 2013 at Newark Symphony Hall, Newark NJ feat Kierra Sheard. Jersey City, NJ. We are looking for Lead, Understudy and Supporting roles for the following characters. Samantha Harris (Career Girl)- (Principal Role) Female, who looks between the ages of 25-35. Beautiful, outgoing personality, sophisticated, strong voice, well dressed, professional commanding presence. (World renowned top magazine editor).
Who I Am:
Samantha is a sophisticated, educated, and beautiful professional who despite her background has persevered to become a successful magazine editor. She has it all power, money, and respect she is persuasive and even a little arrogant. Samantha has control issues. She always wants to be in control of any situation, and whatever Samantha wants Samantha gets, and is willing to do whatever it takes to get it. She has a reputation of being no-nonsense and very stern, and because of this has very few friends. She feels she doesn’t need men she doesn’t need God, and her motto is you only live once. Enjoy it by any means necessary.
Tiffany Peterson (Party Girl) (Principal Role)- Female, sports agent who looks between the ages of 25-35 yrs of age.... Beautiful, with a little sex appeal. Outgoing personality, stylish and articulate. She has a touch of street smarts and can be loud and ghetto at times. Ability to sing and maintain harmony preferred but not mandatory.
Who I Am:
Tiffany is a 20 something woman who leads a pretty interesting life. She works full time as a sports agent for a prestigious company. Worker by day and a groupie by night. She knows where all the parties are and normally is the life of the party. She is looking for a free ride, she works because she has to not because she wants to. She is looking for a man with money and lots of it, so she doesn’t have to work. She is ambitious and has ideas but is afraid to pursue them. Her esteem is based on her body and she uses her assets to get what she wants which is how she got her current job but no one knows that. She shuffles through life with different men hoping to find Mr. Right that would validate her and take care of her. She grew up in church but had one foot in the world so much that she doesn’t even want to go anymore.
Kayla Shephard (Church Girl) (Principal Role)- Female, Teachers assistant at a daycare who looks between the ages of 25-35. She is beautiful but has a shy, reserved personality that also reflects in her style of dress. She is wholesome and God fearing. Articulate and polished. Kayla has a side to her that is arrogant and self absorbed. She keeps it in check for the most part. Think Beyonce alter ego “Sasha Fierce.” Lol But seriously. Extraordinary singing voice, ability to sing and maintain harmony a must.
Who I Am:
Kayla is a beautiful woman who has God at the center of her life. Her Bible dictates and guides the way she lives her life and every aspect of it. Because of this she is often misunderstood as boring, a prude, and just plain old fashioned. Although her career is not as prestigious as her peers working as a manager for a daycare center, Kayla is content with her life. She feels God is her everything and she doesn’t need anything else. Others see her confidence as a ploy to explain her relationship problems with men. Kayla could not keep a man, they either cheated, left her because she wanted to stay virtuous or they simply could not get along. Even though they joke on her and look down on her at times, she is really the glue that keeps them all together, and when something goes down, she's always the one with the good advice. Kayla really admires Samantha, part of her wants to be like her, but the spiritual side keeps her in check most of the time. Kayla suffers from feeling lonely at times and the devil will try to use this to make Kayla slip.

Career girl, beautiful, loud speaking voice, able to harness various emotions like anger, depression. Distinguished, professional (think Clair Huxtable) polished, articulate. Ability to sing and maintain harmony preferred but not mandatory.
Who I Am:
Jasmine is a very opinionated lawyer who is always in everybody's business. Her and Kayla don’t get along too well because she feels Kayla is arrogant and acts holier than thou. They only get along because of Samantha and Tiffany. Jasmine’s husband whom everyone suspects is no good, tortures her with verbal abuse. She is constantly being ignored by the ones she loves and even her children disrespect her, but she is determined to make her marriage work despite the cost. Jasmine wants to ensure that she doesn’t become the talk of the town, and have someone gossip about her the way she does everyone else.
Jarrod Andrews (The Athlete) (Principal Role) -Male, professional football player, who looks between the ages of 21-27. Tall, handsome, athletic build, charming, commanding presence, able to harness various emotions like anger, disappointment.
Who I Am:
Handsome, successful and hardworking, Jarrod is every woman’s dream. Growing up in humble beginnings Jarrod parlayed his skills as a wide receiver to receive a full scholarship to Florida State University, and is now the NFL Draft's top prospect. He has women throwing themselves at him, but Jarrod is a Christian and is looking for a woman he can trust and settle down with. He has his eyes on Tiffany; flaws and all he loves her.
Cory Heath (Jasmine’s Husband) (Principal Role) –Male, who looks between the ages of 25-35. Mean spirited, yet charming when he wants to be. Possessive, confident, arrogant, manipulative able to harness various emotions like frustration and anger. (The character you love to hate).
Who I Am:
Cory is a mean spirited man who is cheating on his wife. He managed to turn his kids against their mother, and is planning on leaving her high and dry with nothing. He ignores all Jasmines efforts to hold her family together because he has his sights set on Samantha and is determined to get the life he feels he deserves...
Kevin Thorpe (Athlete/Jarrod’s Best Friend) (Principal Role)- Male, professional football player who looks between the ages of 21-27. Tall, handsome, athletic build, in shape charming, commanding presence, able to harness various emotions like anger, disappoint.
Who I Am:
Kevin and Jarrod have been friends since forever. Same neighborhood, same school, same university, same career; they are practically brothers. They have each others back and even managed to land a job on the same NFL team. They thought nothing could come between them until something happens that will push their friendship to the limit.
Chris Feldman (Church Boy) (Principal Role)- Male, who looks between the ages of 25-35. God fearing, articulate and polished young man. Kind hearted, loyal, always has great advice. Loud speaking voice, pastor like qualities. Ability to sing and maintain harmony is mandatory.
Who I Am:
Chris is a minister and Bible School teacher at Full Gospel COGIC. He and Kayla have been close friends since childhood; from time to time he flirts, but it’s never anything serious, they are just friends. Their friendship is tested when Chris begins to suspect that there is something Kayla is hiding. He is determined to get to the bottom of it.
